Insulation Before & After in Thousand Oaks, CA
Pictures tell the truth faster than any sales pitch. We’ve opened thousands of attics across Thousand Oaks since 2003, and the patterns are predictable: matted fiberglass, patchy spray foam, missing air sealing, and homeowners paying more every month for comfort they’re not getting. Below are real project stories from our work here. Each one shows the problem, what we did, and what changed. Photos are being added as we document recent jobs.
Recent Transformations
Attic Insulation Replacement in Conejo Oaks
Before
AfterThe attic had 4 inches of fiberglass batt, maybe R-11, compressed flat from decades of service. In Conejo Oaks, where summers push attic temps past 140 degrees, that meant the upstairs AC ran almost nonstop from June through September. We removed the old batts, air-sealed the top plates and can lights, then blew in Owens Corning AttiCat fiberglass to R-38. The result was a 22-degree drop in attic temperature by mid-afternoon, and the homeowner reported the upstairs finally holding at the thermostat setting.
Spray Foam Insulation at the Roof Deck in North Ranch
Before
AfterThis home had unvented cathedral ceilings with no insulation barrier to speak of, and the owners had already been told by two other companies that roof replacement was their only option. We applied Demilec closed-cell spray foam directly to the underside of the roof deck, creating an air and thermal seal in one pass. The attic became a conditioned space. Their gas bill dropped by about 38 percent the first winter, and the furnace no longer short-cycles on cold mornings.
Spray Foam Insulation Repair in Westlake Hills
Before
AfterA previous contractor had sprayed open-cell foam against the roof deck but missed half the ridge and left voids along the soffits. That defeats the entire point of an air-sealed assembly. We cut back the bad sections, removed the debris, and re-sprayed with Icynene open-cell foam, filling every void and building a complete thermal boundary. The homeowner had condensation on the underside of the roof sheathing in winter; after our repair, that moisture problem disappeared within a week.
Insulation Removal and Air Sealing in Thousand Oaks’ Sunset Hills

Rodents had turned the original blown-in cellulose into a shredded, compacted mess, contaminated throughout. We vacuumed out every inch of it, sanitized the attic, and sealed the entry points with steel mesh and foam. Then we blew in GreenFiber cellulose at R-30. The homeowner got a clean, safe attic out of it, and the house stopped losing heat through the ceiling.
Attic Top-Up with Air Sealing in Newbury Park

The insulation was technically R-19, but air was leaking through every recessed light and plumbing chase, so the R-value was effectively irrelevant. We sealed each penetration with fire-rated foam, installed baffles at the eaves, and blew Johns Manville fiberglass on top to reach R-38. The thermostat now holds steady where it’s set, and the living room no longer gets that stale, stuffy feeling by evening.
Complete Attic Insulation Package in Wildwood

This was a whole-attic reset: removal of old batts, air sealing throughout, and new R-38 insulation from certainTeed plus new attic ventilation. The homeowners had been in the house four years and never once felt comfortable in the upstairs bedroom. After the project, they told us it felt like a different house. That’s the outcome we design for.
